DEVIDED SCULPTURES

What happens when you cut an object – not destroy it, but open it? This series is about that very moment: When new forms emerge from a stool, a ladder, or a block through curved cuts – with an in-between that was previously invisible. I am interested in the space in between. The things that are not wood – what we usually overlook. If we took all the nothingness out of the world, only a pinhead would remain. This thought accompanies me: How much there is in between – and how little significance we attach to it. The cuts make visible what has always been there: emptiness, tension, relationship.
